There are many places in the world that are tourist attractions, and there is nothing wrong with that. We like to see places that have not become a tourist attraction yet, but are still amazing. Call us selfish and greedy, but sometimes we don’t want to share with other tourists. If you are not careful, too many tourists will ruin the stew. Here are some of our favorite places that will probably become tourist attraction someday. As of yet, they have not, so it’s a great time to visit.

Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia

This remote island in Cambodia has often been compared to Thailand 20 years ago. Local Ferries only started recently taking tourists to the island. There are no big chain hotels, and there aren’t even any main roads. There are many small restaurants run by locals and small bungalows on the beach that you can rent. Don’t expect all the amenities of a big city here though. You’ll be lucky to get any WiFi whatsoever. In a way this is good, as this is where you need to come to unwind. It has all the normal water sports you would have with most resorts, diving, snorkeling, fishing, and you even have a chance to swim in bioluminescent water. The beaches are untouched and magnificent, and you won’t be fighting other tourists to find a place on one. This is one of the best romantic destinations to go with your significant other, and still be on a budget. Nothing else to do except enjoy the beauty and spend time with each other.

Sofia Bulgaria

Back in 2014, Sophia was named one of the cheapest tourist cities of that year. Is it an amazing place to go shopping, with wonderful food, and you can almost walk everywhere you want to go. There is something here for everyone. If you want upscale you can go to Vitosha Boulevard and see all the expensive shops and fashion houses. It is a great Street to walk and there are many cafes along the way. The whole area has been redesigned in an art nouveau way. The people are very friendly, and there is a long history of the culture that you can experience.

Iceland

There have been some amazing flight prices going to Iceland recently. The prices have been so low it’s almost worth going for the weekend. The natural beauty of Iceland is one where you always wish you had more space on your camera. There are many places to stay in Iceland, everything from full luxury resorts to places for backpackers. There is something for every budget. We suggest going with a more traditional Iceland cottage, as they often come with a traditional Iceland hot tub. There is also some amazing diving in Iceland, especially in Silfra, which is the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. This is the spot that separates Europe from America. Iceland is also home to one of the most sought-after bucket list items, the Northern Lights. If you have never heard of the Northern Lights you owe it to yourself to look them up. Also known as the Aurora Borealis, these are particles in the upper atmosphere that get excited between oxygen and nitrogen and cause an amazing light show all across the sky.

Sarlat France

Sarlat is a medieval city in France that has been used in numerous films. You can feel as if you’re walking down a street in a medieval town from the 14th century. Sarlat hosts numerous festivals, such as a gourmet Festival, and Goose Festival, a Truffle Festival, and many more. The Goose Festival is quite entertaining as there are live geese roaming the streets. Sarlat has an amazing culture and is definitely worth a visit. It is always best to try and visit during a festival, but even if you can’t it is a wonderful town. We suspect it will become a tourist destination far sooner than we wish it to be.

Crespi d’Adda, Italy

Although most tourists head to Rome and Venice, this beautiful and well-preserved Italian town is a must-see. The town is almost the same as it was a century ago. It’s an amazing place for shopping, and the town’s history was that it was created around a textile company, all of that carries forward. The town is a UNESCO Heritage Site. There is just so much to see here off the beaten track. Next time you were thinking of traveling to Italy, check out this little town instead of the big ones, you won’t regret it.

These are just a few places, there are many more secret ones that we are not at liberty to share quite yet. When you travel it’s always nice to see all the things we hear about in the news, popular places such as Bali, Venice, Paris, and Bangkok. But if you step a little bit off the beaten track, and look around, you will probably have a much more rewarding experience in your traveling. More like traveling to those popular destinations 20 or 30 years ago. We wish you the best in your explorations, and if you find any hidden gems, please let us know.
